Just go to Cape Fear and have your baby there! I wish I had...
Went to see one of the doctors there, Major Ortiz. When he talks to you, he comes off as belittling. Definitely never felt remotely comfortable with him. After my third visit, he told me that his other patients are higher priority and that he places them before me. He never asked me any questions to see what symptoms or issues I am having are, but wonders why he can’t figure out what’s wrong. My second visit i did only see a tech and he was very knowledgeable and provided me with awesome insight.
Hope this helps some of you...
Mother baby unit on the other hand is absolutely horrible! If I could give 0 stars I would! With the exception of one nurse I came into contact with... the Dr's don't care about how much pain you are in! All they will give you is Motrin and Tylenol regardless of pain level! My hip had been dislocated from my leg. The doctor came in, and told me there's no reason for me to be in that much pain after a vaginal delivery with an epidural. Then called me a liar about my pain level before realizing what had happened and putting my leg back into socket. She then apologized to me because she "didn't know that had happened" during my delivery! Not once did she apologize for the way she was speaking to me or my husband! Nor did she seem like she cared!! She then gave me 1 pain pill and said "that should do!" FYI: If you ask for something stronger because you really need it, because you are unable to walk... the nurses will tell the Dr. that you have drug seeking behavior and call in a psych doctor in to evaluate you!! Lol- The nurses on that floor that I had were so insensitive to people's circumstances!!! They also kept us in the hospital an extra 24 hours because of all the BS! I had a full bird colonel come into my room and apologize to me personally for the way I had been treated. But nothing changed after she left my room... the charge nurse was awful and had a horrible attitude when my husband asked her a simple question. Oh and you're going to be held prisoner in that unit as long as you are there!!! You are not allowed to leave until you are discharged- this goes for the mother and baby only- your significant other can come and go as they please. I would love to divulge the whole story but that would take too long. Needless to say, The mother baby unit staff needs more training!!!
Dr. Pagan and Dr. Thompson are absolutely amazing!! I can't say enough fantastic things about them and all the staff in OB!
Labor and Delivery was fantastic (5 stars) making everything run smoothly and making my husband and I comfortable with everything that was going on! My nurse was Rhonda- she is the most caring person I have ever met in the medical/ nursing community! My husband and I loved her!!
Have had nothing but good experiences here to include average wait times as you would expect with ER visits. I hit a deer on my Harley and they took great care of me. They were attentive to my needs and immediately made me comfortable. My experience with out patient treatment was great as well. The staff here are all exceptional.
To PCS to this Base while 12 weeks pregnant is a nightmare. The facility refuses to accept my prior prenatal care (confirmed blood work, Ultrasounds) and prior referral by my Fort Sill PCM.and has left me in an atmosphere of unnecessary stress. I have complied to every direction provided to me and "humored" their redundant policies despite my recent ER Visit for OB related issue (which also provided lab work and US), and still am unable to receive the required intake appointment to be seen as an OB patient, and I have called Ms. Taylor every day since Wednesday. I fear that by the time I receive the necessary prenatal care I will be way into my second trimester or in labor. So far, this process has been a major disappointment.
The ER is horrible at Womack, if you didn't come in on a stretcher than you are treated like you aren't important and that it's okay for them to have you waiting for hours even though you're uncomfortable and scared. Not all the ER staff are bad, a lot of the nurses are really sweet and try to help as they can. But most of the ER doctors are inconsiderate and seem like they are trying to get you out there face quick, and not actually helping you. Because of them I still have an infection that they was suppose to have gave me proper treatment for a month ago, but I still have it an some other problems and they can care less. Wish I could go to a different hospital cause this one needs help, wish I could give zero stars.
I delivered my daughter here, my husband is active duty and I am a veteran.
Now the ER, (while I cannot speak for day shift crew and patient volume), was extraordinary. I woke up in the middle of the night on Sunday, May 28 with a severe concern related to my pregnancy and was treated immediately by Dr. Rose. The staff there had excellent teamwork, great sense of humor, and was expedient in addressing my needs. The triage team was very understanding, asked focused questions, and was very professional. I was beyond satisfied in my care and walked out with my anxiety relieved. Gloria, my primary nurse deserves recognition for being on top of my care and keeping me informed. I thank everyone involved in my care.
I may be biased (as I am an ER nurse by trade), but if every department performed on a similar ground as this ER (Common Sense Care, Quick Response, and Prioritization of Patients), then I'm sure this facility would have higher ratings. Bureaucracy managing health care professionals is a poor tactic and prevents continuity of care and is neither best practice nor is it truly safe.
My experience with OB was wonderful (5 stars) Mrs. Davis is an amazing person! She is the manager of OB.
